(JW Insights) Jul 5 -- China's integrated circuits (IC) output increased 0.1% year-on-year to 140.1 billion units in the first five months of 2023, showed data released recently by China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).
During the same period, the electronics and IT manufacturing sector above the designated size experienced a year-on-year decline of 0.3% in added value.
Among the main products, mobile phone production in the first five months decreased 2.6% year on year to 565 million units, with smartphone of 416 million units, marking a 8.5% year-on-year decline. Meanwhile, microcomputer equipment saw a 25.7% drop in production to 131 million units.
In the first five months, China's IC exports in the same period totaled 103.4 billion units, down 11.7% year-on-year. The export delivery value of electronic information manufacturing sector above the designated size decreased by 8.3% year-on-year.
Exports of laptop reached 52.96 million units, a year-on-year decline of 26.4%. The country's mobile phone exports also decreased by 13.7% year-on-year to 290 million units, according to data released by the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC).
